About

Reading, Into It is a place for me to engage more deeply with the media I consume. From childhood, I have been an avid reader. As I started a university degree and several sidejobs that had me reading for hours on end, I struggled reading for fun for a while. Now that I have rediscovered the joy of reading and have well and truely left the reading slump behind me, I am going through quite a few more books in a year, and I have noticed that I perhaps don’t always fully absorb what I read. After the final chapter, I find myself closing the book and sitting with it for a few minutes, but then life goes on and I move on to the next story. I rarely ask myself what I truely thought and felt about a book anymore. I rarely wonder what the author was trying to tell me and how I feel about that message. Do I agree with it, or did I find different meaning in the story? Writing has always been a way for me to make sense of my thoughts (well, that and talking to myself out loud, but I’m not quite ready to move into the podcast space yet), and so this blog was born.

My interests in books and other media go far and wide, so the topics of my writing might vary as much. There is nothing like going from a documentary series about conflict in the South China Sea to a Sister Wives: Tell All that makes you say to yourself: “I contain multitudes”. I occasionaly like going to the cinema by myself, to see the films that no one will watch with me, and I often ponder about them on the bikeride back home. Only a new favourite will linger beyond the front door, however, and so I want to make sure I remember any movie I felt was worth the solo trip to the cinema here as well. This blog is completely at the mercy of my whimsy, so don’t be suprised if I dissect a video essay called “Hannah Montana’s Guide to Life Under Capitalism” one day (yes, this exists, and it’s great). I imagine books will be the only constant, but who knows.

If you are into reading, or reading about reading, and like me, you can’t help but read into things, I hope you enjoy reading this blog.
